As in any accounting firm, audit and accounting forms the backbone of the services we render. At ASL we take the utmost care to ensure that these basic components of our service comply with the high standards demanded in this critically important area of financial control and accountability. We pride ourselves on our maintenance of high technical and skills levels and our system of quality control, which ensures that, with ASL, you’re in good hands.
Even more so, we believe that it is through bright-minded individuals who share our aspirations and vision that we are able to commit ourselves to everything we stand for.
As part of an initiative to share with you a little insight into the lives of these individuals we value so highly within our firm, we would like to introduce you to the management team of our audit division.
Our four audit partners are supported by an audit division consisting of three audit teams, each headed by a designated audit manager, assistant manager and SAICA trainees at different levels of their training contracts.
All three audit managers are qualified Chartered Accountants registered with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA).
Alicia Viljoen joined our team at the beginning of 2013 after completing her articles at Baker Tilly Greenwoods in Cape Town in 2012. Alicia studied at the University of Stellenbosch. She has a keen interest in mountain biking as part of a balanced lifestyle and enjoys the outdoors during her spare time. Alicia loves cooking and baking and is particularly fond of experimenting with new recipes. She plays an integral part in the senior management of our audit division.
Jacques Lochner completed his articles with Mazars in Cape Town followed by a year as audit senior at the same firm which led to a period as audit senior on secondment to Mazars’ New York offices, where he gained invaluable experience. For relaxation Jacques enjoys the outdoors as well as the theatre, visits to wine estates and restaurants. Jacques is a proud alumni of the University of Stellenbosch.
Retha Hamilton, the newest member to our management team, joined ASL earlier this month. She completed her articles at Deloitte and was appointed as assistant manager on secondment to Deloitte UK in Leeds, spending six months abroad. She returned to ASL after being part of our vacation work programme during her studies at the University of Stellenbosch, where she completed her BAcc and BAccHons degrees. Retha enjoys spending time with her family, going on fishing trips and exploring nature. She is also a keen rugby and cricket supporter.
Finally, the team is supported by Christa Swart as director, her particular focus area being audit and risk management. Christa’s keen eye for detail coupled with superior technical profiency, serves her well as technical lead at ASL for all accounting and audit matters.
