ASL Borskankerbewusmakingsfunksie

“I am normally open for sponsoring wines to good causes, but this cause is now specifically close to my heart seeing that my sister was diagnosed with Breast cancer late July 2015. It has been the first time this type of “death sentence” has hit our family.

Everybody ensures us it is not a death sentence anymore, but the feeling of losing someone so close is dreadful and a serious wake up call for me. Suddenly the next bonus means nothing; the beautiful house is empty and its frightening how quickly the status quo can be disrupted and what huge impact it has on her family and friends.

My advice, have everyone checked out and spread the news, don’t wait for 40 before you do mammograms, it can happen earlier and the sooner you pick it up the better.

It was an absolute pleasure in sharing the Bellingham wines with you at this special event.”

So baie dankie daarvoor.”

Doen so voort!”

ASL Breast Cancer Awareness Function

At the beginning of 2015 ASL established a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee, and a few projects to be focused on for the year, were identified. One of these was the Breast Cancer Awareness function that was held in October, where funds were raised for Pink Drive.

Alet Morkel and Chris van Rhyn did much to make the project materialise by offering that the function be held on the beautiful Roseberg, Alet’s farm outside Stellenbosch. They also undertook to provide all the flowers and decor for the occasion. And this turned out to be exceptional!

20 October, the day of the function, was warm and windless – exactly what we had hoped for since the function would mostly take place outdoors. The first guests arrived shortly after 17h00 and from the outset everyone enjoyed themselves while tucking in on canapés provided by Red Pepper Catering.

The evening’s proceedings alternated between formal items such as speeches and words of thanks, and lighter moments with an appearance by Pedro Kruger and a beauty talk by Suzanne Potgieter of @Skoonlief.

The event was a great success and we are grateful to everyone who contributed in some way to make the evening very special. Thank you once again to our sponsors:

Much more can be said about the event, but we quote the well-known expression “a picture is worth a thousand words”, and place a few photos taken at the event. Following is also some of the much-appreciated feedback received after the event:
